Change Makers

Our Steering Group of Plymouth Young People

This group sits alongside our board of directors and helps to ensure our services and program activities are relevant to and meet the needs of our service users. They come from across our free community sessions to form an integral part of Exim Dance.

This diverse group of young people lead change in their communities, make vital decisions around key issues, and provide important insights to Exim’s vision, mission, drives, and strategic plans.

The group comes together four times a year at Oxford House Creative Hub. 

Carmen

Hi, I’m Carmen and I go to Communities Together, Social Hour and ADAPT. I enjoy being part of the Change Makers because I can express myself in a safe place where I feel I can be listened to. Hopefully it will be helpful for young people in the future.

Ellie

Hi, I’m Ellie. I go to Communities Together North Prospect and Social Hour. I enjoy going to these sessions because it’s a nice distraction and release, and it’s good for my mental health. I like to promote the good work at Exim and love helping to make change for everyone here.

Elliott

Hi, I’m Elliott. I go to Communities Together North Prospect and Social Hour. I want to be part of Change Makers to help make Exim better by helping to oversee equipment/resources in the building and I want to make it more exciting for young people. I joined Exim to help with anxiety and to learn how to dance.

Dorothy

Hello! I am Dorothy, I go to Communities Together, ADAPT & Social Hour. I like cheese. I very much love Exim, it’s very cool. I like being part of Change Makers because it’s fun and I want to help other people.

Teigan

Hi, I’m Teigan, I got to Making Waves and Social Hour. I want to be part of Change Makers because I want to be able to voice my opinion and know what’s going on in the community, as well as listening to what other people have to say.

Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie and I go to Communities Together North Prospect & Social Hour.

Angel

My name is Angel, I am an ambassador for Exim Dance Company and also a Change Maker and I attend Making Waves and Social Hour. 

I’m passionate about young peoples mental health. I believe everyone should feel they can access support and help if needed and I also fell passionately about helping to create positive changes the school system.

Tarron

Hi, my name Taz and I go to Communities Together Stonehouse and Social Hour, as well as other events like Mental Health Champions. I go to Exim because it is a very enjoyable experience where I can socialise and express myself. I want to be a part of Change Makers to be a voice for other young people who struggle with mental health.

Charlie

Hi, I am Charlie (or Patrick) and I go to Communities Together North Prospect Dance on a Tuesday evening. I’m with Change Makers as I want to help make a positive impact of people’s mental health.

Astro

Hi, I’m Astro and I go to Communities Together Stonehouse and Social Hour. I come to Exim because they support me as LGBTQIA+ person and I feel happy here. I want to help with pride and also mental health in our community.

Pawel

Hi my name is Pawel and I go to Communities Together Stonehouse on a Monday. I wanted to join Change Makers because I want to help improve Exim’s services for other young people.

River

Hi I’m River and I attend Communities Together North Prospect, Making waves & Social Hour. I enjoy going to Change Makers as it makes me feel like my voice is heard as well as helping to make a positive impact for other young people.
