West End Carnival Parade Footage

Onto an exciting collaboration …
Fotonow (CIC) collaboration with Exim Dance for Dance For Camera
Fotonow (CIC) teamed up with Exim Dance Company to run Dance For Camera, a week-long creative programme, which combined filmmaking and dance choreography, resulting in the young people getting involved in creating a beach themed music video.
Thank you to Fotonow (CIC) and Plymouth City Council for getting us involved in the project!

Onto an exciting conference …
Charlie and Chloe attend the Driving Impact: Supporting the Educational Outcomes and Progression of Working-Class Boys Conference held at Manchester Metropolitan University
Over two days in September Charlie (Lead Movement Practitioner) and Chloe (Education Manager) went to Liverpool.
The conference they attended was the Driving Impact: Supporting the Educational Outcomes and Progression of Working-Class Boys Conference held at Manchester Metropolitan University!
It was wonderful to be a part of a community of educational researchers, academics, practitioners and policymakers who are passionate on reducing the inequality and masculinity in outreach work and educational settings.
Charlie and Chloe have come away inspired to further drive forward innovative creative practice and research that positively impacts educational experiences of young working-class men.

Traverse Youth Dance Platform on Saturday 14th October
Exim is so pleased to open tickets for our next Traverse Youth Dance Platform on Saturday 14th October.
Traverse showcases a variety of performances from youth groups from across Plymouth, Cornwall and Devon at The House Theatre on University of Plymouth Campus.

Creative Education Programme
Exim Dance Company run a Free Creative Education programme which forms part of alternative provision for young people’s education (whether complimenting part time education, exclusion or SEND needs).
Our sessions are Mondays 1-2.30pm at Oxford House Creative Hub.
Our Creative Education offer is for young people between the ages of 11 – 18 years (up to 25 with disabilities) who are not currently attending full time mainstream education.
Young people on this project will have the opportunity to develop transferable skills, build confidence and learn creatively with peers in a safe and collaborative environment.

Laura and Kaitlyn – Training Qualification Completed
We are delighted to share the fantastic news that Laura (Artistic Director and CEO) and Kaitlyn (Hires and Programmes Manager) from the Exim team have successfully completed a comprehensive year-long training course and are now officially qualified youth workers.
This accomplishment is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Plymouth Training for providing us with the opportunity to undertake this valuable course. Qualification achieved through The National Youth Agency.
By investing in our team’s continuous professional development opportunities, we ensure that we provide the highest level of service and support to the communities we serve.

Chloe attended the British Psychological Society Psychology of Education Conference at Liverpool John Moores University
This month Chloe attended the British Psychological Society Psychology of Education Conference at Liverpool John Moores University
Over the two days, Chloe had the opportunity to hear and discuss research around Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity in educational practice.
It was wonderful to be in such a welcoming and supportive environment with fellow practitioners, academics and researchers.
We will continue to advocate and champion young people to thrive as an individual within the educational setting, as well as facilitate innovative creative research practice.

Funding Announcement – The Million Hours Fund through The National Lottery Community Fund
We want to give a massive shoutout and a thanks to The Million Hours Fund through The National Lottery Community Fund for supporting Exim Dance.
Their funding will enable us to create and showcase some incredible dance for camera films, co-created by young people in and around parks in Plymouth.
We can’t wait to share these films with all of you very soon.
This support means a lot to us and to the young artists involved, as it showcases the power of collaboration and the importance of nurturing youth creativity.
We firmly believe in empowering the next generation, and this funding helps us continue our mission of providing opportunities for young dancers to express themselves through the art of dance.

Exim to host the South West Regional U.Dance Platform on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March 2024
We cannot contain our excitement any longer!
After months of keeping it under wraps, Exim Dance is absolutely over the moon to share that we have been chosen by One Dance UK and Pavilion Dance South West to host the South West Regional U.Dance Platform on 9/10 March 2024.
Get ready for an awe-inspiring two days of dance brilliance, as we present an incredible lineup of local and regional youth talent, as well as national and international guest artists at this prestigious festival.
The peninsula platform will take place on day 1 at The House, University of Plymouth, while the regional platform will be hosted on day 2 at The Lyric, Theatre Royal Plymouth.
Mark your calendars for this truly aspirational festival because this weekend promises to be a celebration of all things dance, showcasing the incredible talent of youth dancers.
