Adult Classes are coming back!
Movement for All
Ahead of our initial face to face classes Chloe & Hayley facilitated a virtual taster session. They had a great time meeting new faces even if it was virtually.
These sessions are inclusive fun dance movement sessions for people who identify as disabled that are 18+. They are open to those with some movement experience or nothing at all. These sessions are in partnership with Improving Lives Plymouth and funded by Mencap.

These classes have been a great introduction back into dance, bringing people together to move, socialise & dance once again. The addition of live music has been something which has made this first term so special!
Make sure you don’t miss out, if you interested in catching the last few sessions with Kaitlyn please book via our Eventbrite link:
NEW PRACTITIONER | Open Company Class
We are excited to already have our next practitioner lined up for the next block of Open Company Classes.
21st June – 19th July
7:00pm – 8:15pm
Oxford House Creative Hub
This class will draw upon Harry’s physical practice & creative methodology, with a strong focus on the use of momentum, gravity, weight and spirals as tools with which to find efficiency and lucidity, as we move through space and in and out of the floor. Together we will work through a combination of guided improvisations and set material as a means of awakening our senses, expanding our vocabulary and challenging ourselves both physically and creatively. With an emphasis on pace and high energy, the class will encourage us to explore our limits, take risks, surprise ourselves and find more joy in our movement.
Pre booking is essential ahead of attending any of our Open Company Classes.
Mental Health Awareness Week
Exim showed their support for Mental Health Awareness Week, the week commencing the 10th May; the team dedicated numerous posts to Mental Health Foundation’s theme of nature.
The team is passionate about supporting, encouraging and advocating for open discussions surrounding all aspects of mental health. We want to continue to have healthy conversations not just during Mental Health Awareness Week, but as we move forwards!
Mental Health Foundation included some wonderful tips & blogs on their website go have a look:
Below is one of our posts from over the week, the team showed how nature has helped throughout the past year and with mental health, how has nature helped you this year?
We received great support from Mental Health Foundation over on our Twitter account.
With Flying Colours
Exim Dance have been working with College Road Primary in Keyham as part of their commission with ‘With Flying Colours project’ to make a dance theatre piece with the year 6 group; alongside freelance practitioner Jaime Lock a local Poet & Script writer. The whole piece is part of a co-creation devised with practitioners and the young people, for a performance that will take place on the school playground at the end of the summer term.
Additionally, from this Exim Dance has been commissioned for With Flying Colours POP UP Festival & will be collaborating with Taiko Journey to deliver workshops in order to create a collaborative final performance, inspired by the young people, this will then tour around several Primary & Secondary over the Summer term.
Young People Classes
Our community sessions are growing each week, we are currently hosting a total of 7 FREE sessions within Plymouth!
These include sessions for Primary ages, Secondary ages and those with additional needs. One of our brand new sessions Social Hour has been added to our timetable as a chance for young people to come along to drop in sessions to chat, bring homework/coursework and socialise with their peers.
In addition to this we also have a number of virtual sessions that young people can access through social media.
If you are interested in joining our sessions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
You can check out our YouTube Channel to get an idea for our sessions & practitioners.
We are continuing to work within Educational Settings such as Primary & Secondary Schools. As restrictions have begun to slightly ease we have been able to return to a number of partnered schools in school time or as part of curricular activities, it’s brilliant to be back working with young people on a weekly basis. One of our Lead Practitioner’s Hayley has been enjoying her time at Keyham Barton Primary School “The group have been so determined all term, their creativity within group work has been amazing, they’ve been a joy to lead.”
Over Easter half term we gathered some wonderful images and testimonies; the response from Parents/ Carers and young people has been greater than ever! Have a look at some below…
