Performance Sharing – Making Waves & Stonehouse

As we neared the end of the term, our Communities Together – Stonehouse and Making Waves groups shared performances with each other and even their friends and families came to watch!

We couldn’t be more proud of both groups. A HUGE well done and we look forward to seeing what both groups will create next term.

The company attended the Great British Business & Community Awards on 7th April and found out that we hadn’t only been shortlisted but we were one of four FINALISTS in the category ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Community’ from across the UK.

We are unbelievably proud for getting this far – considering it was a total of 1600 entries!!! Exim Dance was the only Arts/Dance organisation to get through as a finalist from across the UK, we feel beyond proud.

The biggest THANKYOU to everyone that has provided support and sent congratulations to Exim since the Award ceremony! We are truly grateful.

Onto to another upcoming event…

Easter break certainly was a busy two weeks for Exim Dance Company, we kicked off with…

Fit and Fed

Exim Dance delivered our Fit and Fed Program from 11th to 14th of April, engaging 25 young people in total! Thank you to everyone that joined Exim for our Easter Fit and Fed program over the four days. The four days were jam-packed with Easter crafts, various dance styles, and discussions around nutrition. We even had Vicky Putler delivering two wonderful flax crafts workshops. The young people LOVED them.

We also had fabulous Carmen and Dorothy who were on student placement with Exim during Fit and Fed, supporting our young group as part of the program.

We love providing these vital opportunities to young people.

Highbury Trust Workshop

Beth and Chloe had yet another wonderful dance workshop with clients at Highbury Trust on 11th April. There was plenty of creativity, dancing and laughs to be had! We are very much looking forward to the next one on 9th May.

The Manager of Highbury Trust said:
“The clients are loving your sessions. They are fun and upbeat, you get the clients moving!”

Family Movement

On 25th April, Kaitlyn & Beth had a wonderful time delivering our SIXTH Family Movement session for young people ages 3-5 years alongside parents & guardians. It was lovely to welcome some familiar faces, but also to meet new families from across Plymouth!

Keyham Creative Collaborations Day

Chloe had a lovely day at Keyham Green Places, meeting with numerous local Keyham residents, community groups and Devon and Cornwall Police discussing the work that is happening within the Keyham area and how it continues to grow over the coming years; building a trauma-informed network.

It was great to share knowledge and new ideas! We are looking forward to the next one.
